Rejecting the traditional high street model
High Street vs Back Alley
Central to my project was creation of an alternative replacement High Street, filling the hole created when Stretford’s original High Street, King Street, was demolished in 1967.
This lead me to question what constitutes a High Street; is it a place of commercial necessity or community centrality?
I chose to offer an alternative notion of what a High Street could be , addressing some of the current challenges faced by British high streets
