Reflection and Revision
Key Changes
I therefore chose to address these concerns through
-uniting separate structures via a coherent roof structure
-demolishing the post office to create a better connection through to the canal and more opportunity to open out onto the canal side
-bringing the pedestrian walkway to ground level and deciding on a ‘red brick road’ route

3.2 began with a critical reflection of where I had progressed to in 3.1.
REFLECT
REVISE
Summary of Key 3.1 Ideas
- to provide a new link mimicking Kind Street
-three distinct building programmes designed for different senses
-the building to function as a charitable enterprise therefore aim for reduction of costs
Main Issues to Address
-the disjointed nature of what had become three separate and unique buildings
-lack of connection through to the canal due to maintaining the post office
-the raised pedestrian walkway requiring difficult levels changes and access concerns, alongside redundant/shaded ground beneath
Initial 3.2 Programmatic Layout
Modification of the Pedestrian Walkway
After moving my buildings towards the canal I wished to continue to provide a pedestrian route.
The model and sketches here illustrate how the revised walkway may work alongside the steep embankment of the site.
