Central to my project was the creation of an improved pedestrian and cyclist route between the canal, metro and mall. This diagram illustrates this route and shows how it links into existing path networks

The Network of Paths and location of proposal link into the existing Trafford Council Masterplan.
Sensory Themes 'Zones'
As my initial programme was roughly organised in line with three senses, sight, taste and smell, I decided to continue these themes in order to devise a planting strategy and 'sensory journey' along the route.

The main entrance atrium acts as a cut though for car park users and residents of southern Stretfor
Users are guided up the building via splashes of red structural elements
The circulatory flooring helps guide visually impared users
Epoxy Resin screed

Uusually used in factory environments resin screed is cheap, quick to install and is easily cleaned. I felt it would offer a contrast to the warmer adjacent carpeted areas
As well as a continuation of the red route internal floor finishes were chosen to be
-durable
-easy to clean
-resting space to be warm
-quick to install
