As our eyes get older we begin to experience reduced colour contrast but sharper light and dark differences. Spaces therefore have to be designed with easily visible colour changes yet reduction of sharp shadows or strong glare.

"simple changes such as providing gradual changes in light, fine tuning colour rendition on lamps or trying to increase daylighting all have dramatic effects on how older eyes view a building"
